Tennessee Golf Foundation Provides Assistance to MGA

The Tennessee Golf Foundation (TGF) recently announced the hiring of Jimmy Darr to serve as the first-ever West Region Director of the charitable entity that raises funds to support the developmental initiatives of the Tennessee Golf Association and the Tennessee Section PGA.  Shortly after Darr began his duties as West Region Director the TGF's President, Dick Horton, sent a letter to the Memphis Golf Association (MGA) offering Darr's services as a Tournament Director.

"We are thrilled that the TGF has offered Jimmy's services to us to help us conduct our competitive events", said MGA President, Jim Faust.  "Jimmy has long-standing ties with the MGA as a competitor and as a member of the media."

Darr is most recently known as the publisher of Mid-South Golfer Magazine, a role he has held for the last five years.  But he has also been a competitive player on the Memphis scene since his junior days with his most notable wins coming in back-to-back Memphis Metro Championships ('99-'00) and three Windyke Country Club championships ('99, '00, '02).

"I am thrilled about my new opportunity with the TGF", said Darr.  "I have enjoyed building Mid-South Golfer Magazine into one of the most respected regional golf publications in the country and I'm sure it will continue to flourish without my direct involvement.  My focus will now be on the directives set forth by the TGF regarding growing awareness and participation in the game of golf in Memphis and West Tennessee."

Darr continued to say that the Memphis Golf Association is a "true barometer" of the health of the game in the region and that the ongoing success of their competitive events would be a high priority for his office.
